(Please read, you will need this! Please share with your other drivers also. It is important! Thanks.)
Please have a bike helmet and well-fitted, work gloves. Please plan to leave your child’s helmets and gloves here at the farm all week. THEY WILL NEED THEM EVERY DAY!!!!
Please send a healthy lunch and water bottle with your child each day.
Please have kids wear long pants; capris pants or shorts are not allowed.
Please have child’s bangs pinned back and hair in a ponytail each day, all week. IT IS MANDATORY!
Please pin back boy’s long hair as well. We do not want dirty, animal slimed hands rubbing hair out of eyes all day. Plus, they need to see really well for working with animals and especially, large and unpredictable 1,000-pound horses and cow.
Please lube up with generous amounts of sunscreen daily; we cannot oversee this nor dispense it. We will remind them at lunch time to reapply though.
Please meet us at the farm at 8:30 a.m. drop off & 2:55 p.m. for pick up if you are driving your child.
Please meet The Bus for Old McDonald’s Farm, Inc. (OMF) at Concorde Career College, 1425 NE Irving St, Portland OR 97232. You can enter on NE 15th/Irving or NE 16th/Irving where it is paved. Head north under the building and then turn right. Head east to the back of the property away from all those buildings. Look for our bus and the really, really, big, old Crimson tree. Concorde Career College has kindly offered this drop off/pick up space to us but please be respectful and do not linger there because we do not want to take up their student parking.
They have asked us to drive slowly and watch out for the young people “racing in there” that are late for classes. Please drive super slowly and be careful as it is tight and there are many pedestrians.
PLEASE DO NOT DRIVE DOWN THE GRAVEL ROAD AT CONCORDE COLLEGE. There is no access for parents on the gravel road even though our OMF bus will drive on it. If parents drive on the gravel road, we may lose this parking privilege at Concorde. (The bus is too tall to fit under the buildings.)
Please join us Fridays for the student’s presentations to the parents. Friends and family are welcome. No pets please. No open-toed shoes. Please bring cash to shop in our Farm Store. The funds help us help children.
For the six weeks of the Summer Program and the Jr. Vet. Program, the kids’ presentations for friends and family are from 2:00 sharp to 3:30 each Friday.
Bus times are 7:50 a.m. (parent drop off) and 3:30 p.m. (parent pick up) for the Summer Programs and Jr. Vet.Program Monday afternoons through Friday mornings only.
We do not transport children on Friday afternoons or ever on Monday mornings.
Please join us Fridays at 2:00 sharp for the kid’s presentations for the Summer Programs and Jr. Vet. Program. Please do not be late; the kids have worked on what they are going to share with you all week. We will be done at 3:30ish. Friends and family are all welcome but no pets please.
*******Please do not wear sandals or flip-flops on Friday afternoons. Please ask your guests to not wear open- toed shoes. OPEN-TOED SHOES ARE NOT ALLOWED BY OUR INSURANCE COMPANY.
Heat Alert: We have not ever “cooked” a child. Corbett is cooler-always, we have shade trees, we do most of the active stuff in the mornings when it is cool, we play water tag and remind them regularly to drink, we have spray bottles on the bus, the bus is cool when the kids get into it and we are done by 3:00 before the hottest part of the day. Please do not worry!
Late or not coming? Please call 503.695.3316. Please do not leave us wondering and waiting. Please call this land-line number; do not send via email to us. Please call. See you soon! We thank you.
