The Jr. Vet. Baby Goat Kid Program is specific to goats. The goat is a domesticated species of goat-antelope typically kept as livestock. It was domesticated from the wild goat of Southwest Asia and Eastern Europe. The goat is a member of the animal family Bovidae and the tribe Caprini, meaning it is closely related to the sheep. There are over 300 distinct breeds of goat. It is one of the oldest domesticated species of animal, according to archaeological evidence that its earliest domestication occurred in Iran at 10,000 years ago.
It will be quite a treat to have a new baby goat. Learn how to house, care for, feed and maintain the health of a baby goat kid and adult goats too. This program class is all about goats but we will have many opportunities to meet all of our Farm Program animals (including horses) and learn from them also. Students will enjoy an in-depth study of this domesticated animal. This is an academic and skill building class and is taught by an Oregon State Certified Teacher with over 40 years of experience with livestock.
For students going into 2nd-6th grades in the autumn. 18 students max. $319 $299 per week. $49 for the bus.
